SAIF UL MALOOK

SAATCHI GALLERY / AZAM STUDIOS

Inspired by the sufi poem, artist Nasser Azam visited Saiful Malook in August 2018, with British Indian composer Soumik Datta.

Azam Studios and Saatchi Gallery commissioned filmmaker Souvid Datta to create a short film capturing this journey, as each artist created work on location, along the banks of the lake, one of the highest in the Pakistan.

Their collective work premiered as a multidisciplinary exhibition in London's Saatchi Gallery, following the thematic journey of the poem, interweaving ideas of enlightenment, struggle and sacrifice with their own life and work as artists.
